Review: Tom Jones - Praise & Blame

I finally got my hands on TJ's brand new gospel album Praise & Blame. The album kicks off with Dylan's What Good Am I? the song very much labels the rest of the album with a very dark and serious feeling, which is very much present in Did Trouble Me definitely the best track on the album, and a small masterpiece in it's own. The song starts with just Tom singing and then adds a heavy drum beat and a banjo/acoustic guitar sounding thing. On the other hand the album also consists of fast-beat gospel tunes with a very rock n' roll arrangement such as Burning Hell, Starnge Things and the classic Run On. These songs also adds to the dark mood of he album, but don't work as well as the slow emotional songs were Tom's voice really get's to it's rightful place.
3/5
